LRQA Nettitude among the first to be awarded

CREST accreditation for application security

London, UK, 28th October 2022

LRQA Nettitude have become one of the first companies accredited against the new CREST OWASP Verification Standard (OVS).

Developed by CREST, the not-for-profit membership body, in consultation with the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), CREST OVS is a framework designed to provide a consistent and scalable approach to web and mobile application security standards.

CREST OVS has been designed to give organisations wanting to procure a penetration test the assurance and peace of mind to select an accredited supplier. Accredited organisations, including LRQA Nettitude, have evidenced the necessary competencies and methodologies to deliver a quality assessment using the OWASP Application Security Verification Standard (ASVS) and Mobile Application Security Verification Standard (MASVS).

Chris Oakley, Vice President of Technical Services at LRQA Nettitude said: “CREST and OWASP have taken an important step for the cybersecurity industry as the market demands and deserves clear access to organisations that can deliver quality-assured application security testing. We are delighted to be one of the first organisations to achieve this accreditation maintaining our proud record of being certified by CREST across all their disciplines.”

Rowland Johnson, President of CREST, said: “CREST OVS is setting new standards in web and mobile application security. Congratulations to LRQA Nettitude, accreditation to the OVS program demonstrates that their application security assessment services provide the highest level of assurance, The program has a series of explicit requirements that are designed to assess and harness the capabilities of an organisation, along with the skills and competencies of its individual security testers.”

The primary aim of the OWASP ASVS is to normalise the range in the coverage and level of rigour available in the market when it comes to performing web application security verification using a commercially workable open standard.

The CREST OVS accreditation was launched on 28th October 2022. Read the press release from CREST here.
