LEADERSHIP TEAM

Rowland Johnson

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Rowland founded Nettitude in 2003 with a vision of providing high quality cybersecurity and risk management consultancy services for organisations across the globe. Rowland has developed an award-winning company, delivering high quality consultancy services at the cutting edge of the security industry that is now the cybersecurity division of the Lloyd’s Register group.

Rowland holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Birmingham and has held numerous cybersecurity certifications throughout the years. He has provided speaking engagements in the UK, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, on the topics of technical threat intelligence gathering, red teaming and improving organisations’ detection and response capabilities.  Rowland was called upon by Her Majesty’s Government to give both oral and written evidence to the National Security Select committee, as part of the strategic cybersecurity review.

Rowland is a Director of CREST, the not for profit organisation that is driving professionalisation and maturity in the technical cybersecurity industry.

Rowland works closely with international governments and regulators to bring about increased levels of capability in the Penetration Testing, Threat Intelligence, Incident Response and Security Operations Centre markets. Rowland has been integral in creating CREST chapters in the USA, Singapore and Hong Kong and has worked closely with government and financial services regulators to achieve these objectives.

Rowland talks at many international events, and is a passionate infosec leader that continues to actively professionalise the cyber security industry.

Rowland strongly believes that the technical assurance industry has to mature, if organisations are to improve their cyber preparedness.  With an increased velocity and veracity of vulnerabilities and threats, it is imperative that assurance becomes a more continuous activity as opposed to an annual point-in-time activity.  Rowland believes that organisations need to extend their assurance activities to include detection and response assessment, as many organisations continue to be oblivious to what a real cyber-attack looks like.

Rowland’s passion is deeply rooted in all aspects of cybersecurity. He has a deep understanding of Penetration Testing, Red Teaming, and SOC operations. He is able to talk about cybersecurity from a government and strategy perspective, as well as sharing real-world examples from what is seen in the field.
