Benefits of the ISO 22301 standard

  • Risk and Disruption Mitigation: LRQA's ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System certification identifiesassess and manage business continuity risks and disruptions to lessen the threat of an incident before it occurs. Isolating potential risk factors allows you to prepare for the unexpected and respond quickly and decisively, minimizing downtime in the event of an incident.
  • Service continuity and reputation: ISO 22301 demonstrates that your organisation has implemented a structured Business Continuity Management System aligned with internationally recognised best practices. This supports operational resilience and helps organisations maintain critical services during disruptions.
  • Customer confidence and new business opportunities: By implementing a reliable Business Continuity Management System with the globally recognized LRQA brand, you will gain the trust of your customers and partners and increase your competitiveness when bidding for new contracts.
  • Minimizing financial losses: The Plan-Do-Check-Act approach described in ISO 22301 ensures the efficient use of resources to reduce overall risk and minimize the company's financial losses.

ISO 22301 certification process

  • Initial review and gap analysis: Before starting the certification process, LRQA can perform an initial review or gap analysis to assess the readiness level of your Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) against the requirements of ISO 22301.
  • Certification Audit – Stage 1: The Stage 1 audit focuses on reviewing BCMS documentation, understanding the scope of the system, and confirming that your organization is ready for the full certification audit.
  • Certification Audit – Stage 2: During the Stage 2 audit, LRQA auditors assess the implementation and effectiveness of the BCMS, verifying that the processes function effectively and meet the requirements of ISO 22301.
  • Issuance of the ISO 22301 certificate: LRQA issues the ISO 22301 certificate, confirming that your Business Continuity Management System meets the requirements of the international standard.
  • Follow-up audits: Following certification, LRQA conducts regular follow-up audits to ensure system maintenance, ongoing compliance, and continuous improvement of the BCMS.
  • Recertification: At the end of the certification cycle, a recertification audit is carried out to confirm that the system remains effective and compliant with ISO 22301.
