Cisco have recently announced a new model of the Catalyst 2960 series switch. The 2960-24PC-L provides 24 Ethernet 10/100 and two dual purpose gigabit uplink ports. The 2960 is layer 2 only, however unlike the Catalysr Express, runs Cisco's full IOS unlike and provides a console port.

This 2960 bridges Cisco's PoE gap between the low end Catalyst 500/520 series switches and the 3560 layer 3 unit.

 The switch provides full 15.4 watt power across all 24 ports concurrently, allowing it to support IEEE Class 3 devices.
