Microsoft Server Migrations and Upgrades

Embedded Microsoft Security
As an organisation that has a strong pedigree in Security Testing & Compliance, we are frequently asked if Microsoft Server Services can be deployed securely. The answer to this is an overwhelming "YES" - so long as a series of key steps are followed:
- Where possible, Architect Security from the onset
- Where possible, disable system defaults (or rename)
- Disable unnecessary services
- Remove unnecessary Scripts, Drivers or functions
- Take advantage of Group Policy
- Deploy the server with the least required functions necessary to fulfil its role
- Utilise Microsoft Security toolkits, including MBSA
- Undertake a comprehensive security review of the server settings

As part of any Microsoft Server deployment, we will run a complimentary security assessment against the Server estate prior to the deployment sign off. This will give you confidence that your infrastructure has been deployed securely from the onset.
